John and Rob Nesley’s 58 Speedster

John and Rob came to us from California as a referral from Julio Piccio. They had a shop in Cal. Start their project. The car was all metal finished and ready to prime when we inspected the car.

After the full inspection we noticed that the previous shop had not addressed large amounts of rust. The rust chase begun. After replacing the full battery box, pans, longitudinals, jack spurs, and various other rusted areas the car was solid again.

The Nestley’s had us do a lot of other body, suspension, and other chassis modifications. A “Polo” 911 four-cylinder engine was mocked up with a modified five-speed transmission, early 911 rear suspension, and other early 911 components were installed. The front and rear body flanges were rolled over a wire to match the wheel lips.

The heater tubes were enlarged. “C” seats were installed two inches further back. The torque tube area was modified to except the 911 rear suspension. The Speedster is soon to be ready to be taken off of the rotisserie. More to follow.
