Tom Altgilbers' 56 Chevy Hot Rod Truck

Tom’s building a chop top lowered Hot Rod truck. His chassis is set up with custom polished stainless tubular front “A” arms with air bags and a Mustang rack and disc brakes.

The rear is set up with custom-made ladder bars and a Lincoln Versi narrowed disc brake rear end. The frame is fully boxed and all the air, fuel, and brake lines plus the wiring is all hidden in the frame. The truck will get a 383 stroker with a dual tunnel ram intake and a 700R-4 transmission behind it.

Tom has done all his own fabrication and chassis work himself. When we got the truck it was supposed to be ready to block and paint. Upon inspection we found that the doors would not even go into the openings. (From the chop job) We had to rework the chop job, and the roof area. Tom had us fill and roll the drip rails while we were at it. We then proceeded to custom fit the doors to the cab and cowl with all the same size gap. We had him give us virgin front finders to start with. We patched rust and worked the rear areas to match the gaps that we set in the doors. We are now working our way up to the front end fit. More to follow.
